The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) had a rough day on Friday, with the 100-index dropping by 439.82 points, which is a 0.56% decrease. It closed at 78,029.51 points, down from the previous day’s 78,469.33 points.
Throughout the day, 278.3 million shares were traded, compared to 327.3 million shares the day before. The total value of the traded shares was Rs 11.621 billion, lower than the previous day’s Rs 15.283 billion.
Out of 429 companies that traded their shares, 114 saw an increase in their share prices, 255 experienced a decrease, and 60 remained unchanged.
The top three companies in terms of trading volume were K-Electric Limited with 15.2 million shares at Rs 4.27 per share, Sui North Gas with 14.8 million shares at Rs 69.98 per share, and WorldCall Telecom with 14.2 million shares at Rs 1.16 per share.
PIA Holding Company Limited had the highest increase in share price, going up by Rs 54.21 to close at Rs 952.21 per share. Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited was the second highest, with a Rs 22.57 rise to Rs 7,598.99 per share.
On the other hand, Nestle Pakistan Limited saw the biggest drop, with its share price falling by Rs 56.96 to close at Rs 6,900.00. Sazgar Engineering Works Limited also faced a significant decline, dropping by Rs 38.03 to close at Rs 1,043.28.
