Pakistan’s Seafood Exports in FY 2023-24

In the fiscal year 2023-24, Pakistan earned $410.2 million from exporting 200,709 metric tonnes of fish and seafood, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). This is a drop of 17.38% from the $496.6 million earned in the previous fiscal year.


The quantity of fish exports also fell by 6.45% from 214,542 metric tonnes last year. In June 2024, seafood exports dropped by 22.19% to $31.0 million, compared to $39.9 million in June 2023. The amount of seafood exported in June decreased by 16.99% from 18,901 metric tonnes to 15,689 metric tonnes.


Month-to-month, seafood exports dropped by 16.26% from $37.1 million in May to $31.0 million in June. The quantity of fish exported also fell by 16.45% from 18,778 metric tonnes in May to 15,689 metric tonnes in June.


Despite the drop in seafood exports, overall food exports from Pakistan increased by 46.77% in the fiscal year 2023-24, reaching $7.37 billion compared to $5.02 billion in the previous year.
