KARACHI: Pak Suzuki’s CEO, Hiroshi Kawamura, announced that the company has started exporting vehicles to Bangladesh and Afghanistan. This news came during the opening of a new Suzuki Vendor Cluster Area.
Kawamura highlighted that this step shows the quality and competitiveness of Pakistani-made vehicles in the global market. He mentioned that Pak Suzuki has been exporting vehicles and auto parts, including software and motorcycle accessories, to Japan since 1997.
The company recently celebrated producing its 2.5 millionth vehicle in Pakistan. This achievement is thanks to the hard work of employees, support from suppliers and dealers, favorable government policies, and customer trust.
At the event, Minister for Industries & Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, opened the new Suzuki Vendor Cluster Area. This new facility aims to grow Pak Suzuki’s network of local suppliers, making the supply chain more efficient and cost-effective.
Kawamura also called for better enforcement against the misuse of import schemes for used cars and stressed the importance of overcoming obstacles to meet export goals.
Government officials praised Pak Suzuki’s role in Pakistan’s automotive industry. Khuda Bukhsh, CEO of the Engineering Development Board, noted the company’s success in localizing about 70% of its vehicle components. Saif Anjum, Secretary Industries, pointed out Pak Suzuki’s annual production capacity of 160,000 vehicles and its wide range of products.
Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain congratulated Pak Suzuki on its achievements, especially in boosting exports and reaching the 2.5 million vehicle milestone. He highlighted the company’s contribution to job creation, economic growth, and technology transfer over the past 40 years.
The government promised to continue supporting the automotive industry with favorable policies and export promotion.
