Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Through Digital Transformation in Pakistan

Digital transformation is breaking down barriers for women to succeed as entrepreneurs.

Ms. Qurrat ul Ain, a businesswoman, told WealthPK that digital transformation is revolutionizing lives and business in Pakistan. She emphasized that women, in particular, are well-positioned to seize this opportunity.

Access to finance and markets is crucial for any entrepreneur, she explained. Without these resources, neither women nor men can advance their businesses significantly. Ms. Qurrat ul Ain suggested establishing independent chambers for women in industrial cities to tackle specific business challenges effectively.

Globally, women are reshaping the business landscape, and Pakistani women are equally capable of thriving as entrepreneurs, she noted.

Discussing the collaboration between cellular networks and e-commerce, Ms. Robina, who runs an e-commerce website, highlighted how affordable data plans and reliable internet connectivity empower women in the digital economy. She emphasized that smartphones enable entrepreneurs to manage online tasks seamlessly, from listing products to engaging customers on social media.

Ms. Robina plans to train local girls to earn from home through digital skills training, enabling them to sell products nationally and internationally.

Imran Ahmed, from a cellular network provider, mentioned special data packages for small businesses and highlighted how efficient web hosting enhances e-commerce performance. He stressed that women entrepreneurs are leveraging digital tools effectively.

Ms. Robina emphasized that responsibility now lies with women entrepreneurs to adopt digital tools and evolve their business strategies to keep pace with the digital world’s changes. She urged policymakers to create environments where women can thrive alongside men to strengthen the economy.

Imran Ahmed acknowledged the need for improving digital literacy, especially among rural women who face barriers due to limited access to computers and smartphones. He emphasized the importance of addressing social norms and values that hinder women’s participation in digital education and entrepreneurship.
